manicure
tender_square amanda sends me pics of her flawless and intricate manicures that she does at home, which has been inspiring me to start painting my nails again too. the problem? not having three hours available to wait for the polish to dry; there’s always something that needs to be done and it always requires hands to complete it. also, the paint chipping is an issue, and i hate having spent the time on layering the polish just right only to have it get damaged a day or so later. such is life.

i was planning on seeing amanda for the first time in a month and we were trading texts early in the day like we used to in our twenties: “are you dressing up?” “what are you wearing?” i resolved to paint my nails, figuring if amanda can find time to do it and she’s busier than i am, why can’t i? and it dawned on me that i could do it during my two-hour tutoring session with ben, that i could do it weekly during this period to give my hands two-thirds of the required time for a complete dry.

my nails are a pretty plum purple with fine specks of blue and silver glitter like the night sky. the index finger on my right hand already has a small chip.

such is life.
