daughter two of five children in a generational ski family from sewickly. her dad taught first born son grant, along with coaches from our ski school, and daughter fife; now i get lucille, 6 year-old, after best friend and colleague dani, taught her to ski. she was a ripper. we shocked other skiers along the way. they stopped and marveled at our show of speed and finesse. we rode the bumps in a dance we did not plan. we rocked the black diamond. she fell in love with red fred. ische.

her father, from sewickley, asked me to bring her to helen's, the slopeside cafe, for brunch. so we skied down sunset and shuffled our way to where he was waiting. it's so hard to teach her anything. i think her father must drill things into her, because when she's with me, she feels like she can relax. i did the jack frost letter thing with her but it fell off her lap and off the lift to the snow twenty feet below. serves her right in a way. i give in to her every whim. petit couer.

and so i went later by myself and retrieved the letter. the magic worked today. the way she discovered it was perfect. it was the first thing she told everyone when the lesson was over.
