raze sometimes i think about the scene where werner_herzog is listening to the audio recording of timothy treadwell being torn apart by a bear he thought was his brother. werner tells one of timothy's best friends, "you must never listen to this." and she says, "i'm never going to." something about seeing someone's reaction to a moment too horrifying to imagine is more disturbing than hearing the awful music they're force-feeding their ears while a camera studies the ruined landscape of their face. he tells her she has to destroy the tape, or else it'll be a white elephant that follows her around for the rest of her life. but what about the wild animals he's spent the better part of a century letting loose inside his own heart? who tends to them? 220809
