compressor
raze this ashen box with pink painted eyes was the first thing of its kind i ever owned. there were no attack and release settings to confuse me. just the ability to dial in more or less grab, a knob to control the output volume, and a choice between faster or slower compression modes. i never heard much difference between the two. i got the four mono channels to where i could feel them working, and then i didn't mess with them again. i trusted the attenuator to clamp down on my fiercest screams until i upgraded to better outboard gear the winter i fell in love with ampersands. took me more than twenty years to sell the thing. gone now, for four fifths of what my next piano tuning will cost, to a man with a crooked smile and a cockney accent. 240518
