nr the crowd at the show tonight felt like being at the fine-arts college's pub night back in university. same people, same behaviour.

i spoke a lot to m, who i hadn't seen or spoken to in years, but he was always friendly and easy to talk to. that hasn't changed; we talked a lot tonight, and i spoke to his wife, who seemed friendly too.

k was at the table too, but we've only met a handful of times and don't know each other well. but we have mutual friends, one of whom is d, whose show we were at. she kind of looked away, and at her phone, and started talking to others, i guess leaving me to catch up with m. but i didn't want to leave her out, so i said hi to her, saying we've met a few times, including way back at [insert university here]. m continued, "yeah, we're all alum, and friends with d"! and she kind of nodded and said hi but didn't really seem interested in talking. i made a kind of incredulous comment about university being 20 years ago, and she said "right?!" but that was about it. m started talking to me again before i could talk more to her, but she didn't join in the conversation. t is another one like that; he's a nice guy but doesn't seem interested in meeting new people.

maybe it's me. maybe they feel the same way about me; that they've seen me many times but i haven't said hi or seemed interested.
