epitome of incomprehensibility I came, I saw, I wrote "epitome of incomprehensibility 2023" on it.

Okay, I wrote that on the surface of a half-torn-off sticker stuck on the side of the blocks preserved for the East Side Gallery. Not in the middle of a mural or memorial.

Because I don't want my own words to be a barrier, a blockade. A memory of something strange, maybe.

e_o_i In a tangent on disable_google_ai_on_chrome was an uncertainty: did the Berlin Wall come down in 1989 or 1990?

Earlier this week, I reported my initial finding of 1989 to my mother, who said, "But I remember nursing your brother and watching that on TV, so that would be 1990."

Though people can always mix up memories, she seemed pretty sure. So I thought maybe there was a mix-up in my interpretation.

And today, when looking up Potsdamer Platz for a poem I'm writing (see progress_report), I found that we were both right: parts of the wall were broken in 1989, but the official demolition began in 1990.

(I still wasn't quite right: apparently the demolition actually finished in 1994. Things take a long time. Life is like a poem that way.)
