the_length_of_your_body
raze i must have bought this book a decade ago. i never read it. the thought would swim up from some dark place in my mind, i'd skim a few pages, and then i'd put it away. something to come back to later, i told myself. only later never came. then someone who blew the dust off my dormant desire before chucking me in the trash mentioned it to me. and i thought maybe i would read it out of spite. or in the spirit of unearned forgiveness. or just to get it out of the way before i died and words were lost to me. i couldn't find it anywhere. not upstairs. not downstairs. not tucked between two of anything else. this was late last year. i tried. i failed. i considered it lost. as gone as the person who read it before i could. so imagine my surprise when tonight, while standing in the thin distance between two unrelated tasks, i found it on the shelf beside my bed and realized it had been less than the length of my body away from me all along. 250218
