party_in_the_dark
raze at the black_and_white party your eyes needed to have something black around them and you had to be wearing white. everyone followed the rules in the same way, smearing on black eye shadow and wearing plain white t-shirts. one raccoon-eyed person would show up, stunned to find other raccoon-eyed people who had the same idea. those others would greet the new arrival with an unimpressed glare in several parts. then the rookie would join their ranks and ready themselves to participate in the next collective glare.

there was no music. there were no refreshments. there was no conversation. the lighting was the strangest thing. in some parts of the house there was an inexplicable darkness that induced temporary blindness.

this was meant to introduce some mystery, some chaos, some feeling of "i've been here before but i don't know where i am anymore". it was so you wouldn't know who you were not talking to or not making out with or not fighting with. in those dark places you could see nothing, but you could sense enough to block a well-aimed kick and bend the leg attached to the person who threw it until it would no longer support the body it belonged to.

as parties go, it was a relative success.
