amy marie a gazillion times hmmmm that's going to be a thinker. You know how there are types of people in the world? I wish i had figured out personality-typing less later in the game, ok? 150526

epitome of incomprehensibility First of all, parents. They're going to Vancouver for evil reasons, but stopping in Edmonton first, and then they'll be back on June 11.

Of course, I don't need proximity to parents. I'm an adult; I just need spices.

So, for part of supper tonight I made my brother and myself a stir-fry with snap peas, green pepper, celery, mushrooms, miniature corn from a can, and finely diced fresh ginger. I fried this in peanut oil and added a spoonful of hoisin sauce as well as a bit of rice vinegar.

But when I tasted it there was something missing, sauce-wise. I'd left it out while cooking because I don't like it much, but it blends well with the other things and makes them taste stir-fry-ish: your humble soy sauce.

(Note that hoisin sauce uses gluten as a thickener, so it isn't good for people with intolerances to this. It tastes sort of like a concentrated sweet-sour chicken dip. I can't really explain it further than that.)

e_o_i No-oh! This was supposed to be posted ONCE, under the title missing_ingredient. Ah well. We can pretend it's connected because of Asia. Asia connects Europe and Africa, so why not? 150526
