raze i used to catch him after school when i was a kid, and then in the morning when i was still a kid but slouching toward something less tenuous, drinking apple juice and chewing on a toasted bagel with cream cheese because i had to eat something even if my stomach wasn't awake enough to want food yet. i always kind of pitied mallard drake for not being much of a superhero. it took a lot of years for me to figure out that was the whole point. here was a man trying to make himself into something more through sheer force of will. only he wasn't a man at all. he was a duck. his achilles heel was his arrogance. what made him heroic wasn't his fight against crime in st. canard, but his relationship with his adopted daughter. that was the real heart of the show: two imperfect souls doing their best to understand and care for each other. 231206
