Had
a
clock
once
that
had
been
tossed
out
in
the
trash
at
work
,
one
of
those
large
faced
round
institutional types
common
to
schools
and
workplaces.
They
tossed
it
because
it's
hands
no
longer
moved
,
only
twitched.Upon dismantling
I
discovered
that
the
problem
was
that
it
had
ground
up
a
few
too
many
young
cockroaches
between
it's
gears,
other
than
that
the
moter
was
fine
.
So
I
cleaned
the
parts
and
proceeded
to
re
-assemble
but
when
I
got
to
the
end
there
was
a
small
bent
piece
of
wire
that
fit
around
one
of
the
gear axles,
it
was
designed
to
jam
the
gears
in
one
direction
but
allow
motion
in
the
other
.
I
couldn't
remember
which
way
it
had
been
facing
when
I
took
it
out
.
(
simple
A
C
Motors
will
run
either
direction
depending
on
their
position
when
the
power
is
applied)
And
of
course
given
a
50-50
shot
...
I
got
it
bass
-ackward.
And
so
I
now
had
a
clock
that
kept
perfect
Anti
-time.
Rather
than
take
it
apart
and
reverse
the
piece
,
I
instead
placed
another
set
of
smaller
numerals
running
counter-clockwise
in
a
ring
within
the
original
numbers
.
I
thought
of
it
as
an
Australian
Lawyers
Clock
seeing
that
it
rotated
opposite
to
northern hemisphere phenomenon
and
you
had
to
read
the
fine
print
to
get
at
the
truth
.
