mon trusty new old flashlight
held a surprise for me

dogs barking signalled
a sail in the harbour
shone a ray of yellow
golden glow
out the window
into the dark orchard

the little cub shy
at the edge of the yard
vacuuming up pears
small like a dog
staying close to the big bear's feet

big bear annoyed by the glare
the chatter of entertained voices

standing as tall as tall can be

as it turned before running i could see

highlights of silver brown grey

i don't think
i'll be going into the woods today
