epitome of incomprehensibility

"Everyone is mostly illiterate." It's a thought I had - the kind that seem smart at the time but rather obvious in retrospect. I was thinking of how when I try to learn a new language I feel like a complete idiot, because I don't know anything. Then how humility can be useful in learning. Not shame or shaming, but humility. When I started German, I felt like I was going back to kindergarten. With Sanskrit, now, I feel like I'm going back to preschool (which, by the way, is what "Kindergarten" is in Germany, according to what I've read). Anyway, that led to this thought: Everyone is mostly illiterate, because they can't read most languages.
