cocoon My condolences on your loss

--

Why are you telling me though? I dont know what to say (to you). I can only give you trite/tired responses. Platitudes.

I dont know. I dont understand. Im really not the best person to be doing this.

I am sorry for your loss though.

unhinged as if words could fill the hole in my life that gets bigger every year, a hazard of living that eventually the ones we love fall to death one at a time

epitome of incomprehensibility Should I say I give them? Should I go to the funeral home next evening after work?

Because the person who died I didn't really know as a person. I knew him as a member of the artisan committee who made wooden ornaments. I'll miss the wooden ornaments, but I can't really tell people who are grieving: "I miss looking at that cool stuff he made."

raze you know, i've always felt awkward saying, "i'm sorry for your loss." i know it's often the safest, most respectful choice. it's what you're supposed to say. it expresses empathy in a neutral, inoffensive way. but if i'm ever at another funeral, i'd kind of like to leave propriety at the door and say, "this is bullshit. dying really fucking sucks." 231025
