bye_bye
Soma The summer sky scorched into pale red and lavender at the edges of the evening's forget-me-not blue. Underneath that dome of oppressive heat, I looked out across the dry golden field of grassland that spanned between this neighborhood and the next. There were no more of little indigo flowers. Whatever beauty had been there this morning was gone now, a fleeting reminder of the ceaseless progression of time.

Eventually, when my feet brought me back home and I crossed the threshold, I was reminded that you had crossed a threshold too. The world inside was quiet, still. The only noise the whir of the machine forcing the artificial stir of a breeze. No tiny, tender pacing steps echoed behind mine as I moved around. No whisper of a miaow, shown only when you caught my gaze. This too, was a barren place.

You were wrapped up in pale blue flowers and floral yellow stars. But that wasn't you. You were wrapped up the heart of me, my wildflower son.
