So that's who said it! I always mix her up with Anne Szumigalski. Both poets, same first name, same last initial. I know the lesser-known one better, not because I'm partaking of random_beef sandwich, but because I have a fondness for surreal humour.

the quote is from her 1967 poem, "wanting to die." earlier in the day, while i was mulching a client's garden, i listened to a podcast from third coast audio festival entitled, "consorting with angels." it features eerie transcripts from her infamous therapy sessions and cigarette-soaked recordings of her reading her work. i will check out anne szumigalski. thanks for the suggestion.
