raze for his birthday, i thought i should mix this demo he recorded at my old house fourteen years ago and send it along. it's a song he wrote for a high school english class when they were reading orwell's "animal farm", sung from boxer's perspective.

he had an awful cold when we recorded it. so there's a sub-leonard cohen thing going on. and he forgot one recurring section altogether. but there are parts in there i forgot ever existed. at one point he drawls, "sugarcane mountain, look out, here i come." and i'm sure he made that up on the spot, but as a horse's dying dream-vision, i think it works.
