Somewhere deep within my blood and flesh I feel the thump, thump, thump of my unrest Pavement and city streets tear me to the core Car alarms, neon lights, and exhaust fumes make my senses sore The thumping gets louder and I have no peace Until I escape these city streets I need trees, a backpack, and a trail I need stars, adversity, and hail Elements I need them all I need rain, wind, water, and fire To calm my internal desire Simplicity Glistening trail and crunching sticks I need my adventure fix I am going crazy on the seventh floor of a downtown highrise Coffee every morning just to stay alive Files, phones, faxes, and rush hour They call this reality, i call this capitalist power Because somewhere deep within my blood and flesh I feel the thump, thump, thump of my unrest The thumping gets louder and I have no peace Until I escape these city streets
