raze i've only ever seen her wearing goggles and trying to drown herself in neck-high water. she sings christmas songs in the middle of july. all their guts have been ripped out. only melodies remain. in place of words, muddled vowels search for some semblance of self. thursday it was "jingle bells". friday it was "santa claus is comin' to town". this week there's been nothing but coal. today she sang the ground theme from "super mario bros.", speeding up as time expired. there was no swirl of sound to celebrate her survival at the level's end, and no mournful variation on the familiar motif to denote her death. in the game of life, things end so they can begin again. 230724
