epitome of incomprehensibility

TV in the background remarks that a serial killer on trial is rather old to be a serial killer (he was in his 60s). Thoughts: Why does it matter how old the killer is? Killing people is bad. Why make it into a record thing? Someone could see it as a contest and try to break this record. If I lived until 80 and started killing people I suppose I'd be an outlier, but I don't think I'd kill people at 80 if I wouldn't now. That's a relief.
