skedaddle
raze
apparently
the
word
has
its
roots
in
military slang, circa
the
american
civil
war
.
no
one
seems
to
know
how
it
was
born
. they've
only
been
able
to
pinpoint
the
birthplace.
i've
always
enjoyed
how
it
sounds
like
something
with
a
spring
in
its
stomach
being
bounced
off
a
wall
.
it
creates
its
own
rhythm
just
by
being
alive
inside
your
mouth
.
first
you
feel
the
click
of
an
unloaded
gun
.
then
the
frisson
of
tongue
touching
hard
palate
before
being
flung
back
into
its
tray.
i
resolve
to
reach
for
it
more
often
when
i'm
saying
goodbye
.
