epitome of incomprehensibility
|
The town means Morris's castle and we stayed in a modest apple hotel. Call it a motel for road-closeness but an inn for insideyness. Outside first, from the car, we looked in at the patio. Mom was startled, thinking she was seeing things when the "man with a hat" she saw sitting there was not there and she couldn't see what had suggested his outline - and I couldn't either until I noticed the shape of the folded umbrella, very man-with-a-hat, so we're not crazy in a hallucinatory way, just tired, mildly illusory to associate the name McIntosh with coziness. The Rob_McIntosh store is east in Lancaster, and when you travel the memories of little towns run into each other like dye on a batik but they are all real in a built-up way.
