modest
epitome of incomprehensibility Writing dream_clothes led me to remember thoughts previously unblathed about the word "modest." Basically, these ones:

1) Some Christians (not all, not only) attach this to clothes, mostly women's clothes, and it's about being perceived as too sexual. So if you cover more parts of your body, you're more modest.

2) Many people have already pointed out the problems with this, but I'd like to add one more, based on my experience: as a kid, I missed out on the fuller sense of the word's meaning. Even if I was the school's biggest show-off, if I dressed "modestly," I was a good girl, you know?

3) Wait, but *was* I a show-off at Cedar_Christian_Academy? More so before. A bit of bullying, a dollop of self-consciousness, dampened my previous hankering to be in the spotlight, to make people laugh, to burst (annoyingly) into song. Then again, I became competitive about grades, a thing I didn't worry much about before.

...I can organize the past into categories, but the_categories_are_made_up. To assume my organization of events reveals all their truths would be immodest.
