a seed of an argument. the legitimate, the what the why the how the state, but more than the state how did the state get to be seen as legitimate to be seen as being able to extend this legitimacy to others? us, we, people, choosing through voices through feet through votes legitimacy. i still don't have coherent thoughts or words, but this thought. i can run with it. if i can only express it.

he wanted to give her something, but did not think of it until he saw her face. then he remembered he had a drawing with words from his friends in the accordion file of his pocket moleskine. as he approached her he removed it, unfolded it and gave it to her, even as he said his hello. there was a flower and a woman with a long robe containing a single star where her heart should be. a sun shone down on her critically. it read: IT COULD TAKE A SPLIT SECOND TO DIE. IMAGINE HOW QUICKLY IT COULD TAKE TO LIVE the girl took the paper from him and smiled. she said thank you and read it. and then she looked directly into his eyes, looking away only to take the hair from her mouth when a cooling breeze tossed it. "do you know how dangerous it is for you to be seen talking to me?" the girl said.
