just_like_a_baby
raze i've rarely had anything resembling recurring_dreams throughout my life. there are people and places and themes that have become mainstays, but the story they're a part of is always changing. what i do have, at least at the moment, is a recurring dream_song. "just like a baby" by sly and the family stone has shown up in two separate dreams a few weeks apart. in the first of them, a truck parked so it was blocking the flow of traffic on my street. the driver was blasting talk_radio so loud i could hear it inside my house. he delivered massive arrangements of red flowers to two different homes. one of the recipients was the man across_the_street. "i doubt they're as delicious as i am," he said. i ate a blueberry danish and listened to the second cut on "there's a riot goin' on". female vocalists sang a line i hadn't heard before, with an unfamiliar melody to match: "and sometimes you're lost, never to be found." the second dream came just two nights ago. the same narcotic lullaby played over a tracking shot of a sand-stung landscape. a man who wasn't sly_stone moaned, "now tell me that you'll leave me." i wait to hear if the one he wants to be abandoned by will answer the next time the soundtrack of my sleeping mind sees fit to add another line to a script i thought i knew so well. 260321
