raze i don't know what the sound is. it's not the zug island lullaby. that hasn't been heard since a steel mill shut down a few years ago and their blast furnaces stopped firing. the hum everyone hated never heckled me. this is something different. something deeper. a low rumble that seems to swallow up whatever silence surrounds it. it isn't constant. sometimes it isn't there at all. i never know when it's going to rise up out of nothing and haunt me for hours at a time. it showed up again last_night. maybe this is the music dusk makes when it's asked to hold too much: the uncertain moaning of some strange machine that can't be seen. 240409
