his_mother's_laughter
crOwl kathy and i took my mum to see spanglish. unfortunately, it is not a_film_you_should_see. but, just hearing my mother's laughter cutting through the darkness of the theatre was worth enduring tea leone's fractured performance.

it is the sound that all children must recognize at the various stages of their development. the music that is not played, instead it is felt like we feel our own heart beating.

as i sat there in the sold out theatre and heard many forms of laughter all around me i could easily distinguish hers, picking it out like a blind man.

it was a gift i could give her. a moment when she could relax and give in to an experience beyond the reality of her lonliness and simply behold something funny and react to it.
