griffin_and_sabine
rt Few books are more romantic than this trilogy, nor more surreal. Griffin Moss is a rather doleful, lonesome, gaunt, and haunted postcard designer in London. Sabine Strohem is an illustrator of stamps living on an island in the South Pacific. One day Griffin gets an extraordinary letter from Sabine revealing that she knows all kinds of things about his life and work--somehow, she can share his soul from afar. They start exchanging love letters, yet it remains an open question whether Griffin and Sabine are two hearts that mystically beat as one, or simply illusory. "You're a figment of my imagination," Griffin accuses Sabine. "You cannot turn me into a phantom because you are frightened," Sabine replies. Phantom or soul mate, Sabine is pursued across the globe by Griffin in an increasingly impassioned fashion, and the mysteries deepen. 100415

lostgirl it is easy to see from this work just exactly how much power art and the written word have over the imagination and vice versa. the author/writer/artist always has the ability to have intentional directional impact on his or her reader. in the case of these two, reader and writer are connected soul to soul and not necessarily withinhuman limitations’ therefore it is also easy to see how they fell in love with each other through written correspondence. they each saw what the other wanted them to see. their spiritual connection combined with their imaginations did the rest for them. real life has its limitations…..the imagination does not. but real life has the benefit of being just that. real. when the two become confused is where the trouble begins. very enlightening, and extremely enjoyable read...looking forward to the next book! 100421
