goat's_milk
birdmad i remember when i was a kid, sometimes my grandparents would take a trip down to the border, around Nogales. Whenever they went, it was so my grandmother (maternal) could visit some of her relatives, cousins mostly who came up from way down south not far from Mexico City, as much a case of meeting them halfway as they could manage.

While they were down there, they would pick up a few things to bring back when the day or two they spent there was up.

I don't remember the brand, though i recently saw it in the international foods section of one of the grocery stores nearby, but they used to bring back a little octagonal container that had a very fine wafer on top and in the middle and was filled with this smooth liquid caramel that was made from goat's milk, as well as a cheese that was also made from the milk as well, the cheese was a mild white cheese with a taste not unlike mozzarella, but with a slightly strong undertone to it.

The caramel was great over ice-cream and the cheese was good slightly melted with some onion and a little salsa in a corn tortilla, like a small more earthy version of a quesadilla

between these things and the some of the candy they brought back, it was always even more of a treat than usual to see my grandma and grandpa again after they came home from one of their trips down
