raze the one i'm thinking of now i haven't laid eyes on for more than two-thirds of the length of my life. i never saw anyone else touch it. so some part of my mind made it mine. it was crystalline green with ribbed plastic skin. i used to fill it with water from the kitchen sink, drop a few ice cubes in the drink, and wait for them to drown. the scent before the first sip was always the best part. it didn't smell like anything you'd want to put in your mouth. it was almost like every awful thought that house gave birth to was doing all it could to seep into me. but when the coldest river i would ever know was coiling through my guts, all i saw was the promise of dry land. and i knew i could swim straight for it without once going under. 250410
