raze ... that the people who know you would be surprised to learn you're fond of?

the first thing that comes to mind for me is "blow dry". not the thing you do to your hair after washing it when you want more control over its final form. the 2001 romantic comedy film.

the formulaic crowd-pleaser is not normally what i want to see. at all. ever.

(i don't include "the_princess_bride" in this category because it's a masterpiece of subversive storytelling and that rarest of things: a film adaptation that's actually better than the book it's based on. anyone who thinks otherwise is just plain wrong.)

this one is different. i mean, look at that cast. alan rickman. natasha richardson. bill nighy. rachel griffiths. rosemary harris.

those are all brilliant actors. i can even forgive josh hartnett's halting attempt at a british accent. you know why? because it's got heart.

i don't care what the critics say. i love it. and not in an ironic way.
