epitome of incomprehensibility
|
For the first time in literally forever, all four members of my immediate family are voting for the same political party in a federal election. We don't usually have supper at the same place and time either, but today all four of us were sitting around the table. The literal table. Then a conversation about getting a political lawn sign revealed that we *all* plan to vote for the Green Party. Even my conservative-leaning mom. In our district, signs for the current Liberal MP are everywhere. The Green candidate has "about the same chance as a sphere of frozen water in the place of torment" (Dad, cheesy and verbose). But the idea is to send a message: "It's not America First or Canada First, it's Planet First!" (Dad again, cheesy and concise.) Solidarity in opposition to a prevailing current is weirdly exhilarating. Why?
