The 48th Day of Winter
1.
A Bright winter
mild, unlike East
cool, unlike South
And previously apart
from everyone.
I fixed my television, though.
And self-fear doesn't annhilate
the borders, or consume my culture
"Is it the past, the present, or the future?"
Really now.
2.
Last winter, I walked out my door
to find a cracked tile in the grass.
A picture of a goose.
I walked to the neighborhood bookstore
in search of Mother Goose.
(My waking life was in a dream.)
There, I discovered a Sufi tale for sale
that had been stolen
from the San Diego Library.
It was about a wife who caused a catastrophe by willing her immediate desires.

"Is this okay?"
the negotiators wonder.
no, no,
we did have to ward off the terrorism,
sure.
now though,
what means responsibility?
"I thought it was love."

"Our inheritance"
"To defend" "home"
"keep" "resources"
"it is ours"
"America"
"Rightful" "Might" "Power"
Negotiators, who is the leader?
"Us"
"America"
"Free" "Strong" "Caretaker"
