ovenbird Why is it that everything fits in your suitcase when you’re setting out but not when you’re heading back? Even my clothes don’t want to go home. They’re cats who know they’re on their way to the vet, contorting themselves wildly so I can’t shove them into the crate and close the door. They’re my dog on the way to a bath, pedalling the air as if they could run away from the water. No matter how I fold and roll and twist, there just isn’t enough space to force my measly possessions back into the space they came from. It will be the same for me. When I try to squeeze back into the dimensions of home, I just won’t fit. We’ve all grown taller than the lives we left behind. 260804
