One man turns to the other to report what he’s been gleaning and says, “the reverend says news travels fast around here.” It’s a running joke in my immediate family. We’ll break it out at odd moments when someone is sharing a tidbit of gossip. I miss that–the way my days used to be filled with shared threads, little repeated motifs that only had significance because we kept passing them back and forth.
