i found a wooden cabinet someone had left on the street corner for the rubbish man to take away.
i opened the door and to my great surprise, discovered a music box that when having its key turned it produced the song of the cuckoo.
but, there was no bird to appear. only the german tune, cheerful and auspicious.
i listened long enough to accept its definitive message.
