epitome of incomprehensibility
|
Over last night and today, this stanza coalesced, in the shape of a verse from Proverbs: They think Methuselah was really 900+ and they pride themselves for it; they think Ayesha was really 9 and they scorn a whole faith for it. Who exactly are "they"? Maybe I was thinking of the people from one of my schools, but not anyone in particular. Maybe the A.C.E. overlords, faceless figures in far-off Texas who wanted to fuse Christian fundamentalism with cutting-edge teaching. Accelerated Christian Education. And just the idea of how you can twist things that were never meant to be literal. Being inaccurate by being too accurate.
