yawns
raze there's something almost sacred about an animal opening their mouth as wide as it will go to get more air. we do this all the time without thinking. when a squirrel or a cat or a dog yawns, it isn't an afterthought. it's a decision they've made. they put their whole body into it. this morning i watched one of my daily backyard_visitors stretch out her arms and silently scream in an effort to heave the whole world into her lungs, as if that might somehow be enough to never need another breath. and i said in the voice that lives inside my mind and sometimes isn't even mine: i know the feeling. 250407
