yawns
raze
there's
something
almost
sacred
about
an
animal
opening
their
mouth
as
wide
as
it
will
go
to
get
more
air
.
we
do
this
all
the
time
without
thinking
.
when
a
squirrel
or
a
cat
or
a
dog
yawns,
it
isn't
an
afterthought.
it's
a
decision
they've
made
.
they
put
their
whole
body
into
it
.
this
morning
i
watched
one
of
my
daily
backyard_visitors
stretch
out
her
arms
and
silently
scream
in
an
effort
to
heave
the
whole
world
into
her
lungs
,
as
if
that
might
somehow
be
enough
to
never
need
another
breath
.
and
i
said
in
the
voice
that
lives
inside
my
mind
and
sometimes
isn't
even
mine
:
i
know
the
feeling
.
