the air is hot, humid, oppressive. around the corners of my eyes violent storms flicker and fade and flicker.

i thought i had written a different take here or on blue, but i must have dreamt it into memory. so here it is: the pathetic fallacy is pathetic because it posits the weather cares about us. but, in any case, my emotional state can be deeply influenced by the weather, so i celebrate that patheticness as a sign of my humanity. (wet snow is one of my least favourite forms of precipitation.)

As a Captian Obvious, or at least a Lieutenant Obvious, I read "the pathetic fallacy is pathetic because it posits the weather cares about us" and thought "but 'pathetic' in that case just means relating to feelings - pathos - and doesn't necessarily carry the pejorative modern connotation." I replied to myself: "e_o_i, calm it, he was making a pun. Ever heard of those?"
