i've been sleeping
through it.

like liver,
i should have listed
my surprise.

in the cemetery
i screamed,
"let go of me,"
preaching electric plans.

you're like me.
you sit when things
don't go your way
and wait for your eyes
to fill you.

in dark suits,
there were moments
of salvation.

now the memory of your smile
is just a fancy way
of keeping us fed.
