epitome of incomprehensibility I'm invited to the taping of a children's TV show in Germany. On the stage, five adults in grey bodysuits decorated with red lines arrange themselves to represent a rooster. "They don't look very chicken-like," I think, disappointed. I had higher expectations of this German TV program.

Then there's cheery music, and someone appears holding a paper dragon, whooshing it in a circle around the stage. "Okay, so either multiple people represent one animal or someone's holding an animal prop," I sigh inwardly. "First, this is inconsistent. As a kid, I'd be confused. Second, don't they know how to wear costumes??"

But then, inadequate animal costumes might be part of the plot of the show. I can't tell. The actors' words don't mean anything to me. I realize I don't understand any German, though I recall understanding a little bit of the language sometime in the indistinct past.
