epitome of incomprehensibility
|
It's been hot and a rattling fan has been rotating. When I drop off to sleep again, I still think I'm in bed, awake. I have to lie still because I'm testing a foam mattress - which, for some reason, is lying on top of me. At the same time, the radio is on, and I'm listening to an ad for the said mattress. This is part of the testing process. "Bite the mattress," the radio advises, "and imagine it tastes like St. Hubert's chicken." St. Hubert is a local restaurant chain. Is there some kind of cross-promotion going on? I bite into the mattress and it tastes like nothing - it just has the texture of foam. Imagining I'm eating chicken doesn't change that. (But when I wake up again, I'm cheered that I had a bit of sleep.)
