raze i watch the rain cut slow circles in a pool of its own bleached-out blood. i've walked through so much worse. been pelted with enough piss to soak through to the skin. today the sky only has strength enough to sigh. i'm feeding a friend when i catch sight of a strand of clover rising from the earth that holds your bones. no other living thing anywhere near it. and i know it isn't an accident. i don't dream of you the way i used to. i can't see your face when i close my eyes. some days i want to dig you up. to have you with me again. but i know that isn't you anymore. it's just what's left of the body you had when i met you. you're in everything now, wringing beauty from the necks of shallow-rooted weeds, wetting their green gums with the merciful spit of morning. 230429
