remix
raze a friend of steve's wants to take a shot at remixing one of his songs, so i've been breaking it down into individual components and making them into wav files to send him. it'd be a lot easier if i used protools or some such recording software. then i could send him a mixing session as a single file and be done with it. but i don't, and i can't, so this is where we're at.

while it's a lot more time_consuming than the alternative would be, it's also more interesting, i think. doing this makes it clear how incredibly simple some of the elements of a song can be when taken on their own. makes you wonder how all these little pieces connect and combine to create something bigger, deeper, richer than it should be when you hear how simple that drum part really is or how little the piano is really doing. a few plinks and plonks here and there go a long way.

this is the part of the process i have the least amount of confidence in, the least amount of knowledge to apply to, and yet there are almost endless possibilities to explore. so i'm curious to hear what this guy does with the plinks and plonks we made, and how it differs from what i did with them.
