redd
Q A redd is a nest about 30 cm deep that a female trout excavates in the gravel of a stream bed just before spawning. While she digs, males watch with excited anticipation, eager for a signal from her to ejaculate to fertilize the ova she releases into the redd.

In a peripherally related vein, the verb to redd is used chiefly in Pennsylvia and means to clean up or tidy, especially an area like a table. It was brought by immigrants from northern England and Scotland, where it is still used.

Kleh Ver ~

I've redd the table in my head
where redds of thoughts and wishes store
I now have read sweet blather's red
and now new thoughts and wishes pour

For once, the world was only blue
like oceans, skies, and eyes of you
But now the world has different hues
and these I long to long peruse

So, now I turn from blue's sunset
and face red's dawn with no regret
With blue behind and red before
I'll sow my mind on this new shore!
