epitome of incomprehensibility
|
Someone I know through a James Joyce reading group asked me to proofread what I thought would be a novella. And I was happy! He's willing to spend $50/hour, with the first two chapters as a start. Buuuut it turns out this "novella" is actually a work of philosophy. READ YOUR EMAILS THOROUGHLY, KIRSTEN. Maybe he didn't say "article" explicitly. Maybe he just wrote "manuscript." But I could have guessed; he didn't say anything about a fiction project when we talked after Finnegans Wake group, and he's also member of the aesthetics society that David belongs (belonged?) to. Aesthetics as in aesthetic philosophy, not as in doing people's nails. Arguably there's more artistry in the second. (I mean, there's artistry in both. This shouldn't be a diss to either. I'm just fed up with philosophy right now.)
