nr today at dim sum, i asked my 3-year-old nephew to remind me what his favourite dishes are. i remembered two of them, but not shrimp rolls. after answering me, he asked, "what are your favourites?" i answered him and he nodded thoughtfully. "do you like shrimp rolls too?" he asked, and i said yes.

i wasn't expecting him to ask me back, especially with the distraction of delicious food that had arrived in front of him. this honest showing of interest and listening is something a lot of adults could learn from.
