 | | ebullient | |
 | ancasa.reyn | a random memory:
whenever i see or hear the word ebullient, i immediately think back to when i was at university and heard the word for the first time.

i lived in a dorm for a year, and one of my neighbours, ed, a fellow from the cleveland area, latched onto the word for several weeks, saying it as often as he could work it into a sentence.

 ehb-yoo-lehnt

ed was a smart fellow, majoring in marine biology and minoring, i think, in german. he was also a funny guy, so i don't know if his pronunciation of the word was intentional or if he simply hadn't paid any mind to the dictionary's pronunciation guide.

i wonder if he still pronounces it that way.
