carrot_cake
raze when did this become a tradition for us? i remember the first time i stood in the store where they sell the stuff. it was raining that afternoon, in the middle of a season that didn't have snow on the menu. summer probably. maybe fall. but we'd eaten it at least a few times already by then. at some point we settled on the fifth day of the week, if you count sunday as the first. sloppy joes and carrot cake. a childhood treat chased by an adult indulgence. when they don't have what we're after, we'll substitute cherry cheesecake. or pineapple upside_down cake. or two bricks cut from a brownie big enough to serve as a meal in its own right. but thursday night doesn't feel complete without cream cheese frosting, pecan fragments, and the dying dreams of dried grapes. 240802
