bottles
tender_square the collection began with one bottle last monday. he had finished the last remnants of peanut butter in the canister, and placed the empty, uncleaned vessel by the sink. later that day, a taller friend joined the countertop loitering: his iced coffee container held dregs of liquid, and wore a plastic overcoat that needed to be stripped. three days ago, his curvy toothpaste cartridge made the group a trio. yesterday, a hulking bottle of body wash joined the party.

he was supposed to be responsible for the household recycle. how many times had she rinsed these containers because he didn't have the patience to stand at the sink with the hot sprayer loosening gunk from the crude oil walls?

how long would the encampment last?

tender_square "i'm not going to lie," he said. "i don't want to rinse out this peanut butter container."

"you could throw it in the dishwasher," i suggested.

"what about this toothpaste thing, how do i clean that?"

"you have to peel the stickers off and then the lid with pop off. again, you could throw it into the dishwasher if you wanted."

"what about all this stuff?" he pointed to the gummed up toothpaste in the lid.

"you'd have to wipe that up with a paper towel or something, otherwise it might clog the dishwasher."
